Thanksgiving share!
Hi Everyone!
We are pleased to be able to offer an expanded Thanksgiving Share this year. Not only will Hearty Roots be delivering vegetables, fruit and eggs, we will also be offering Amber Sather's homemade apple and pumpkin pies.
Distribution for all these items will be Saturday, November 21 from 9am-10am at LOT 2 at the corner of Sixth Avenue and 20th Street.
Please find the details below:
FOR VEGETABLES, FRUIT AND EGGS:
How do I sign up and how much does it cost?
You can purchase your Thanksgiving Share directly through the Hearty Roots Farm web site, using a credit card, debit card, or Paypal account. The cost for the vegetable share, which contains quite a bit more produce than a typical CSA delivery (since it will store so well), is $40. We estimate that if you were to buy the same produce at the farmers' market or grocery store, you would spend over $50. Prices for the optional fruit and eggs are listed below. Quantities are limited, so please sign up soon, and definitely before November 15th.
What's in a share?
Vegetable Share - $40
The vegetable share from Hearty Roots Farm will likely include:
-Salad greens - 1/2 lb. (will keep for a week in the fridge)

-Cooking greens (kale or collards) - 1 lb. greens (will keep for a week or two in the fridge)

-Garlic - 4 bulbs (will store for months at room temperature)
-Leeks - 3 pieces (will store for weeks in the fridge)

The fruit share is from our friends at Montgomery Place Orchards. It will likely include:

-Cooking apples (varieties that are good for eating, and also great for pies, etc.)

Eggs - $5.25 per dozen
The eggs are from Muddy Farm in Stone Ridge, NY. The chickens are raised on pasture and the eggs have the delicious, dark orange yolks that come from chickens who forage for grass, seeds and bugs in addition to eating grain.
